Record Run For Mitsubishi Pair

MITSUBISHI has claimed a place in Australia's motorsport record books following last weekend's class win in Goondiwindi's final round of the Australian Odd-Road Rally Championship.

In winning their class Queenslanders Geoff Pickering and co-driver Glenn Watson drove their way into history by becoming the only team to win every stage of every championship offroad event in a season. And they did it for the second consecutive season.

Pickering and Watson also took out the Class Seven Championship for production-based vehicles for the fifth consecutive year.

Sadly, the 2005 season ended with a whimper rather than a bang, bad weather forcing organisers to call the event at the end of the first stage, handing overall victory to Class One buggy driver (and 2005 champion) Shannon Rentsch.

After five years of competition though, some things must change, and the Pickering-Watson NP Pajero, now in its fifth year of competition, will be put out to pasture and used as a back-up vehicle for the new car now under construction complete with diesel engine.
